CineCulture Line-up Includes Award Winners, Foreign Films
Fresno State’s CineCulture program screens “As It Is in Heaven”, an Academy Award-nominated film, at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27, at the Leon S. and Pete P. Peters Educational Center in the Student Recreation Center (Shaw and Woodrow avenues.)
The Swedish film with English subtitles is about a successful music conductor who returns to his native Sweden, begins working with a church choir and soon finds friendship and love in his old hometown.
“As It Is in Heaven” was nominated for an Oscar in 2005 for Best Foreign Language Film.
Anna Hamre, director of choral activities at Fresno State, will lead a discussion at the end of the screening.
The film program promotes cultural awareness and demonstrates a broad spectrum of movie making as well as opportunity for discussion.
All CineCulture screenings are free and open to the public and will start at 5:30 p.m. in the Peters Educational Center followed by a post-screening discussion focusing on cultural and social aspects of the film:
