Friday, April 7, 2017 -- PHILIP LORENZ MEMORIAL KEYBOARD CONCERTS, Pianist
RAFAŁ BLECHACZ
Since winning all prizes at the 2005 Chopin International Piano Competition in Warsaw, pianist Rafał Blechacz has established himself firmly on the international concert scene and is celebrated by both the audience and the press worldwide for his profound and virtuosic interpretations. Described by the great Martha Argerich as an “honest, extraordinary, and sensitive artist,” he is only the second Polish pianist, after Krystian Zimerman, to have enlisted under the Deutsche Grammophon label. Most recently, he was awarded a prestigious Gilmore Artist Award in recognition of his brilliant achievements and passionate commitment to his art.

Friday, April 21, 2017 -- Johann Strauss - Die Fledermaus
Die Fledermaus, or the Bat, is a fun comic operetta by Johann Strauss Jr. world premiered in April of 1874 in Vienna, Austria. Sometimes referred to as the Revenge of the Bat, this operetta takes us from parlor to masked ball to jail all in 3 acts centering around all of the main characters masked at the Russian Prince's ball. Die Fledermaus is being performed by the students of Fresno State Opera Theatre with full orchestra and costumes, conducted by Dr. Thomas Loewenheim, directed by Dr. Maria Briggs and produced by Dr. Anthony Radford. We hope you can join us.

Sunday, April 23, 2017 -- All That Jazz
If you like jazz, you’re going to love this concert! From Blues to Ragtime to Swing and Big Band to Contemporary Jazz, you’ll hear it all. Mike Dana, Director of Jazz Studies at Fresno City College and Director of the Jazz Composer’s Orchestra is appearing with the band playing Carlos Santana’s “Europa”. Well-known song stylist, Bob Bergthold, a much sought-after jazz soloist, returns to sing your favorites. And our own baritone saxophone player, Randy Morris, will really jazz it up with “Stovepipe Stomp”! Come and experience the swingin’ Fresno Community Concert Band!
