Climb the mountains and get their good tidings.
Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows
into trees.
The winds will blow their own freshness into you...
while cares will drop off like autumn leaves.
~John Muir
(1838-1914), American naturalist
A
humongous forest, the world's largest trees,
majestic peaks, scenic rivers, wildlife, miles of
hiking trails and the magnificent Crystal Cave
are among the many attractions that bring people to
this area in the Sierra Nevada mountains. For those who enjoy being close to
Mother Nature,
an all-day car trip to Kings Canyon and Sequoia
National Parks is highly recommended.
Before
taking your trip, you may wish to visit the official website of the
National Park Service to learn about road
conditions, operating
hours, fees, seasons, do's and don'ts, and your
responsibility and safety while in these parks so
that you and your loved ones can have an enjoyable
and memorable trip.
Story continued below.
Be sure
to fill up your gas tank before driving to the
parks. It is hard to find a gas station and a car
service garage within the boundaries of the parks.
Clovis
is known as the Gateway to the Sierras. Driving
southeast
from Clovis toward Kings Canyon and Sequoia National
Parks, you will see
thousand and thousand of acres of fruit tree orchards,
orange and lemon groves, and grape vineyards along the
edges of the foothills of the Sierra Nevadas. The
scenery, colors and beauty of the vast vibrant
agricultural land change greatly according to the
season of the year. This is one of the most scenic
routes to Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks.
These
two famous national parks are adjoining each
other in the southern Sierra Nevadas so you can
drive from one right into another. Just look for the
National Park Service signs that will tell you when
you're leaving one park and entering the other.
There
are a lot of things to do and see in these two parks
such as free ranger-led walk and talk program,
hiking, walking under the Giant Sequoias, touring
the Crystal Cave, visiting Beetle Rock Nature Center
in the Giant Forest in Sequoia National Park,
viewing and taking pictures of the Kings Canyon
Scenic Byway, and much more.
It is
very easy to lose track of time while enjoying
yourself and admiring the wondrous beauty of Kings
Canyon and Sequoia National Parks. So remember to
allow ample time for your driving trip. Please
remember to check the website of
National Park Service for information on the
various scenic drives in both parks.
Enjoy
Mother Nature and take home many good memories.
