Agriculture not only gives riches to a nation,
but
the only riches she can call her own.

Clovis
is located in Fresno County, the nation's number one
agricultural county, and
blessed with a unique Mediterranean-style climate,
where local
folks and visitors can enjoy the bountiful
harvest of more than 350 different types of crops
that grow and flourish here all year-round. According
to a report from the California Department of Food and
Agriculture, in 2008, Fresno County again set a
record for its agricultural production, topping for
the second time more than five billion dollars in
gross value.
The
people of Clovis are proud to have a strong
agricultural heritage, as area farmers continue to
produce high quality fruits, vegetables, nuts, and
other essential farm products from cotton to dairy
products to beef, to feed millions of families locally,
statewide, nationwide, and in other countries around
the world.
Outside
of the city limit of Clovis, thousands upon thousands of acres of farmland,
orchards, and vineyards blanket the valley. Many
out-of-town visitors have been awed by the endless
rows of beautiful fruit and nut trees such as almond, peach,
nectarine, cherry, plum, walnut, orange, apple,
and olive, and vast expanses of grape vineyards of
many varieties stretching out as far as the eyes can see.
These
fertile agricultural lands provide some uniquely
beautiful and breathtaking scenic drives, such as
the awesome beauty of Blossom Trail and Fruit Trail.
You will also find a treasure trove
of some of the best wineries in the country, and you
can see and buy the freshest and most
flavorful fruits and vegetables to be found anywhere
at roadside fruit stands throughout the area. You
will also find a great many photo ops along your
driving tours.
Come see for yourself
and experience the rich and unique agricultural
heritage of Clovis and the Central Valley.
