Tulare, Calif. - Enjoy a day filled with agricultural
activities and free entertainment for the whole family!
The International Agri-Center will host its first
Ag-Fest event on Saturday, October 15, 2011 in Tulare,
California. The event will include a 5K run, food
demonstrations and a performance by 2011 America's Got
Talent musician, Ryan Andreas.
To encourage children to
stay active, the day will begin with a non-competitive
5K run at 7:30 a.m. and Family Fun Run at 8:00 a.m.
Participants who register online at
www.InternationalAgriCenter.org by October 3rd will
receive a t-shirt on the day of the event. The first
winner in the male, female and children's categories
will be awarded. Cost to enter is $15 for adults and $10
for children.
An Iron Chef style 4-H
cooking competition will begin at 10:00 a.m. The event
challenges 4-H members to compete against each other
using a secret ingredient given to them on the day of
the event. Awards will be given to the top three teams.
In keeping with the
healthy living theme of the event, local chefs will host
cooking demonstrations about healthy eating habits and
healthy eating on the go.
Attendees are encouraged
to visit the AgVentures! Learning Center and Antique
Tractor Museum. Visitors can learn to make butter and
fresh squeezed orange juice in the learning center and
take a look at fully restored antique tractors,
implements and other farm equipment showcased in the
museum.
The Tulare-Kings
California Women for Agriculture will present Down on
the Farm, an area with free activities, games, a bounce
house and a petting farm. Children can participate in
scarecrow making and a pumpkin decorating contest.
The afternoon will end
with musical performances at Ag-Fest Unplugged from
12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy
performances from local musicians and 2011 America's Got
Talent contestant, Ryan Andreas.
