"I frequently
tramped eight or ten miles through the deepest snow to
keep an appointment with a beech-tree, or a yellow
birch, or an old acquaintance among the pines."

I took these photos of Tahachapi Loop
on the way back to Clovis from a business trip in
Arizona on the first day of winter, December 21,
2008. I had never seen the Tahachapis covered
completely with snow before. I noticed that many
other travelers also stopped to enjoy and photograph
such a beautiful winter scene.
