Rand's
Four-Fruit Smoothie |
|
Created
by Rand Green |
"This wonderful
smoothie is highly nutritious and yet is as
thick, smooth, creamy, and delicious as any
milk shake you've ever had. It is so good
it's hard to believe that is is such a
healthful beverage." -- Rand |
Ingredients:
1
large banana
1/2
cup fresh California peaches, nectarines, or plums
1
cup FROZEN California seedless red or black grapes
or seedless Concord grapes*
1/2
cup fresh or frozen raspberries or boysenberries
4
oz. silken tofu (don't say
"Yuk" till you've tried it)
3/4
cup Tropicana orange juice
*NOTE:
Frozen seedless grapes are key to the special texture of this
smoothie. To freeze grapes, wash and drain, remove
from stem and spread in single layer on cookie
sheet. Place in freezer overnight or until grapes
are firmly frozen. The frozen grapes may be kept in
the freezer in sealed freezer bags for three to nine
months, depending on variety. Color varieties work
much better for this purpose than green grapes.
Instructions:
Place
ingredients in blender. Blend at high speed until
smooth and homogeneous. Pour into tall tumblers and
serve immediately.
Makes two 14-ounce servings.
