Two-time
consecutive national champion tri-athlete Chloe
Waldner has done it again when in Tampa, Fla.,
she took first place in the 2010 IronKids
National Championship. IronKids is the largest,
well-known youth triathlon event series in the
world.
Chloe is a
fourth grade student at Woods Elementary School
and is actively involved in the iCAN Junior
Triathlon Club. Chloe and nine other local
tri-athletes went to compete at the IronKids
National Championship in Florida representing
the iCAN Junior Triathlon Club. The Fresno-based
iCAN Junior Triathlon Club competed in seven
triathlon events between the months of April to
August.
Prior to
the championship event, Chloe competed in the
USA Triathlon National Championship in San Diego
and took home a first place victory among 9 and
10 year old girls. This was her second
consecutive win. Her first win was last year in
2009 amongst 7 and 8 year old girls. This first
place victory qualified her to proceed to the
IronKids National Championship event in Florida.
Chloe has
been training with the iCAN Triathlon Club for
the past five years in swimming, biking and
running. She has competed in 30 triathlons since
the age of 4 and this season had recorded seven
first-place finishes. At the IronKids National
Championship, she swam 150 meters, biked for 4
miles and ran 1 mile against 37 other
tri-athletes, and rose to the challenge to the
capture first place at the finish line. She
finished with the fastest time of 23:53 among
9-10 year old girls and 9 year old boys. Woods
Elementary School is very proud of Chloe and her
accomplishments.
